Outfitter gets prison for fraud

http://www.freenewmexican.com/news/50921.html

A former outfitter in Catron County will spend nine years in jail after pleading guilty Wednesday to racketeering and fraud in an illegal hunting operation, according to officials.

Rita Floyd, 54, pleaded guilty to racketeering, fraud and outfitting without a license, according to the state Department of Game and Fish.

District Judge Matthew Reynolds sentenced Floyd to nine years in jail in what officials say is the harshest sentence handed down for a wildlife-related crime. Floyd and her partner, Celeste Core, were accused of forging licenses and selling big-game hunts on eBay and by phone and e-mail. Core will be sentenced in December.
