Okay, here is the deal of the day. I am in need of a good trail cam to use (not keep). I have access to some local land here near riverside that has some pigs coming out of the riverbed everyday. The tracks are there, the scat is there, even some rubs are in there, I just cannot get on any pigs. This last saturday was another unsuccessful hunt with a friend. We can clearly see the trails, the tunnels, and paths used but just cannot get them. Besides that the brush is so thick that we chased two of the damn things around in the brush and never could get a clear shot on them. Did I mention that this is an archery only hunt due to proximity of houses and general public. Well, it is.

Anyway, best I can see is that I need to get smarter and find out when they are using these trails. Thats where you come in. If someone out there has a trail cam just collecting dust in their garage, lets put it to use. In exchange for letting me/us use it, you will get an invite to go hunt with us here locally whenever we go (at least once a month, wife permitting).

This sounds like a good deal to me if I ever heard one. So if anyone is interested please respond here or email me and lets work this out. Thanks.

Heck Frosty... If I were closer I'd buy you a dang camera just to get some time on private land hogs. But Riverside is a bit too far for my sorry butt.

I'm sure there's somebody down there who can come through for ya... if you promise to keep your shirt pulled down.

Camera? You don't need no stinking camera!
Pigs are like some people you know, party all night, sleep all day.

Get there before it gets light and wait for them to head for the bedding areas.

If I knew how to shoot a bow, I buy a camera just so I could come and play.

Wal-Mart has been selling Game Cams for "cheap" somewhere around fifty bucks and the come with a media card which in most cases is worth fifty itself.

Where are you hunting in Riverside? Down in the riverbed? Do you need a special permit or just a hunting license?

To answer your questions, I have not gotten a great response. Wild1 has offered to help me out, so I sent him my number and haven't heard anything yet. If you read this Wild1, please respond. Anyone else out there interested that has a cam, or heck, a night vision scope and some warm clothes, let me know. I am just really anxious to get down in there to get at those darn pigs. And no, I won't be hunting at night, even though it is on private property (250 acres), I just want to see where they are moving and try to catch their patters.

If there is anyone interested that has a cam and not a bow, I don't care. Come along with and we can divide up pig if anything in nailed. I sound desperate, but this property is going away this next spring when the owners move and then I have no access. So anyone, please help.

I'm in Lake Forest and spend my hunting time in Cleveland NF and Los Padres NF

There's always room for more hunting partners.

By the way, I was sort of, kind of, in your neighborhood today. Dropped by Orange County Archery (Fountain Valley) looking at the new bows......XMas and all. Nice store.

I'm actually going into Los Padres this coming weekend, it'll be good to get out no matter what. I haven't taken one yet, but it's becoming an obsession to take one on public land.

Longhaul,
Go get 'em, give us a full report (even if you don't score a kill) when you return. If you ever have use for a partner on one of your public land hunts give me a shout. I've been wanting to try both cleveland and LPNF and I love gettiin' out in it.

Unfortunately, Cleveland is a no-go for hogs; I've hunted mostly deer up there. I saw five doe this past season up there, but only had a buck tag.

I'll post up a report when I return from up there. I'll be going to a new spot this weekend and I'm optimistic (of course); we'll see what happens though.

This coming weekend is booked by my neighbor, but I'm planning on going every weekend (like I said it's becoming an obsession). I'll let you know about upcoming weekends....

Sounds good. I'll keep an eye out for your post(s) here. Feel free to e-mail me: wild1forever@hotmail.com I'm up for pigs or deer as long as I'm outside, and I have weekends off. Good luck this weekend.
