Well I still have a bit of a slow elk problem. Hopefully the rancher will pick up his tresspass cows soon, I can catch them for him and have them waiting. He has not been quick to call back to get his cows off the property. The elk have not been back that I can tell and I do not expect them to with the moo cows around. I reinforced my outer fence to keep them out. I know the elk can jump it and hopefully they will.

I am pretty sure I went to Highschool with you Chris Bobo. You were in my sisters class (I think, 85?).

Joe

Even the moo cows did not eat the grass clippings.

I wanted to thank everyone for their offers of help. I think I am good right now. Looks like there is some peremeter fence repair that needs to be done to keep the cows off the property and until that gets done I will have to contend with the cows. The good news is they did not seem to get into the trap last time, and the elk showed back up. If I can get some consistant elk use I think I can catch what I need.

grass clippings are fine for cattle, their stomachs can handle any fermenting that happens. Horses have a tendency to collic, even if the grass hasn't fermented yet. I would stay away from grass clippings, unless feeding cattle or goats.

pretty much nothing ate the grass clippings as far as I can tell. Even when there was 5 moo cows in the trap, they never touched it.

Hi Joe,

I will bak up the offer made by Ed. California Bowmen Hunters worked for over 16 years to get archer elk tags and we are tickled with how well that program has gone. We would love to chip in and help out with a donation. E-mail me at wakmasterr1@yahoo.com and I will send you a check. By the way, the success of Tule Elk bowhunting was recently acknowledged (with consistent impetus by the CBH Big Game Club) when the Pope & Young Club added a Tule Elk category to their records program. Thanks to all of you in the elk program for all that you do.
