Need info- Idaho horse or pack mule rentals

going to idaho again this year like we do every year and was wondering if anyone knows an outfitter for renting out horses or mules?
we dont need drop camps, we don't need a guide, jus need to rent to drop off at our camp for a week to 10 days.
around the area of challis, salmon, or north fork ido.

I'm sure you've already seen it but just in case you haven't....Idaho FG web site has a link to outfitters that operate within each management zone. I've been looking into Beaverhead and there was a pack outfit in that one. Good luck!

I seriously doubt that you'll find someone that will rent a pack animal to a stranger. Drop you and come back with stock to pack you out is a whole different story. Here in Ca, the going rate is about $1000.00 per hunter/rider. If you want a packer to just pack your gear in and out, while you all walk, they will generally do that also as long as there is someone at each end to recieve the gear.

The liability of renting you a pack animal is beyond the means of possible gains from renting them without guiding. Snake river Yamaha has reasonable quad rentals especially for weekly rates. They also cater to hunters. Or you could just do the socal thing and stop by the corner of home depot to get some packers. jk

I'm sure there has to be someone out there that rents horses. Every year I go to colorado for elk and rent horses for the season. It's big business for those guys, horses are usually ok and run about $450 per horse for the season. Helps getting further in and when your packing out an elk 5 miles in you will thank yourself....... Contact idaho FG and ask
