Well it looks like I have the first week of March off work and am itching to shoot a hog now that I am stuck in Mass!

I am thinking of driving south. A 15 hour drive is something I am expecting so that could get me down into Tennessee, Virginia or North and South Carolina. But I have no clue where to start.

I could camp or motel it, no biggie either way. Bow is fine but I'd probably take the rifle too and hunt with that depending on location. I'd prefer public land with even a slight chance at hogs but may consider some sort of pay to play operation. Most of the "ranches" I have been able to dig up have not quite been my idea of hunting, high fence, small plots with release pets. Who knows just do that to get some meat in the end.

If anyone had any good info I'd be all ears!!! I'd could take my pickup but taking the wifes Honda CR-V (with a hitch hauler) would probably be preferable if the roads I would be on for hunting were OK for that vehicle.

So I thought I would throw this out there in the hopes someone had an idea or two to point me in the right direction. Any thoughts from ya'll?

Thanks Phil. I'll definitely take you up on that. Probably next week or so. I first have to convince the wife she needs to take a vacation (me paying for it of course) with the baby to California for the first week in March

Ideally we'd all come to CA and I'd find a hog to hunt there but we both can't head West that week so if I can send her West, the dog and I will go on a road trip South

Let me know. I've got a line in now to my friend in South Carolina, and waiting to hear back on his availability in that time frame.

Too bad you can't make it back for the May hunt at Tejon.
