Just got back from an ELk hunt wanted to thanks SUperduty for all the help! Didn't get the big one but was able to get on with my son before he heads off to Boot Camp with the Marines!

I will pass on the good words to my son! We got lucky and a road ended up pretty close to the bull! Here is a buck my son got this year in Utah

Nice Elk, at least you got to get one... nice deer too. I too thank your son for his coming service, my son graduated boot camp on 7/22 this year. Make it a point to go to to family day and gradutation (thurs and Fri) about 3 months later - you will get a letter from the head DI. You will come away with a whole new appreciation of the brotherhood of Marines (unless you already are one). Tell your son to keep his head up, volunteer for everything, it will help.

Congrats, very nice elk. Love the color of the antlers. Hopefully once you get to your base you are stationed on you find out about hunting opportunities at military bases. As active duty you can put in for special hunts, and different states have different oppurtunities for military. good luck in boot camp, take every day and break it down from waking up to breakfast, breakfast to lunch, lunch to dinner and dinner to the rack. it makes the time not seem as bad when you are away from everyone. the marine corps was the best time of my life, make the most of it.
