Nevada Unit 072 074 Bull Elk Tag

I was lucky and drew a tag for Nevada Elk in unit 072/074 the Jarbridge WIlderness area is in the unit as well as alot of BLM land anyone hunted there before? ANy tips or experiance will be greatly appreciated!

Are you familiar with the area at all? Are you planning on doing a scouting trip? What type of info are you looking for? It's a great area with pleanty of elk. Do you have horses?

Hi Thanks for responding, I am not familiar at all, the closest I have hunted is near Wells for deer several years with a bow, I am going to try and get there for a scouting trip just to see the country or just get there a few days early, I have no horses so I am on foot, I was planning on backpacking into the Jarbridge at first but spoke with a few people who hunted in there with a guide and they let me know they saw a lot of elk but it was way in and covered too many miles to do it on foot. I spoke to one guy who hunted on his own in unit 74. He said he saw a lot of elk, east of the wilderness, west of Jackpot, now I am thinking I should start there. My son will be able to help me, (he is going into the Marines right after the hunt, so should be good training packing it out if we get one). Any help will be greatly appreciated, I am not a trophy hunter but know this is a good tag, so any help on what to be holding out for as a good one for the area is also appreciated.
