Follow up... went 9.5 miles. Area not marked and phone gps didn’t work. I didn’t get a trespasser ticket but was kinda nervous. No pigs and old signs by old I mean OLD. I will find some new ground to go hopefully Friday.i will have a hog in my sight sooner or latter. Meanwhile stopped at jca in Salinas and got a bow sling and some stuff. Jim is a great guy I recommend him for all archery needs.

If land is not fenced, under cultivation, or posted; you cannot be charged with trespassing. You must leave immediately if owner or his agent tells you. Most of my Monterey county deer came from private property that I entered through BLM. Don’t take my word, ask a warden or read the regulations booklet.

You might try Upper Cottonwood Creek near San Luis Reservoir near Los Banos. I have seen pigs there, and know people who have been successful there. Huge plot of steep land owned by Fish & Wildlife, so it is open to the public. Use to be closed half the year. You can get lots of info about it on the web or contact the Los Banos fish and wildlife office. Very steep and long walk to get to the good spots. Have to sign in, but you do it at the gate. Opening weekend of deer season is by draw only.

Thanks for the feedback I really appreciate it. I tried calling to check upper cottonwood but can’t get anyone to answer. It sounds like it is closed for all hunting till deer season opens. Is this true?

Common Sense - Great summary of section 2016 of the Fish and Game Code (hunter trespass). Spot on. Well done.
