New Colorado GMU 52 Hunter

Looking for some assitance...

I've been invited to go hunt Colorado's GMU 52 for Elk this year during muzzeloader season and I'm looking for any advice you experts out there can provide. I don't have any points, so I'll be putting in for a Cow tag to start along with applying for a bull tag to get preference points. Season dates are Sept. 13 - 21.

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Don't know much about that particular unit, but in CO expect anything weather wise. I'd suggest chains all around.

I'd also suggest http://www.huntinggpsmaps.com/ and the state specific map for your GPS.

Thank you for the information, good reccomendation on the chains (even with 4 wheel drive), I have also found through my research that it's quite wet in in this unit.

As for drawing a bull tag, I also figured that was out of the question, at least this time around. I plan on putting in for it just for the PP (though I hate having to pay the cost of a tag, just to have it reimbursed) to hopefully draw a bull tag next year.
