New Comer

Just wanted to introduce myself as I am new to these forums and hunting in general. Born and raised in Hawaii, and grew up in the outdoors with boy scouts, but for whatever reason never really got into hunting. Actually just went pig hunting for the first time at Upper Cottonwood Creek yesterday. We got to that first pond before sunrise, but unfortunately didn't see a single thing, but no matter it was great to be out there and enjoy the country.

Anyway, this seems like a great place to ask my rookie questions and to get a little more information about hunting.

Did you see any deer out there????

nope. No deer and no pigs. The creek and the ponds were pretty much empty, so our thought was that there were other places that they would rather be. Just a thought, not sure if our thinking was accurate. Any input on this?

My buddy had a 30.06. I didnt have a gun or a bow as I am in the final stages of getting my hunting license. I think my preference when i do get my license is to hunt with a bow. Seems like one of those things that if I can hunt with a bow, the transition to a gun would be fairly easy. Is that accurate?

thanks for the reply Coolbreeze, for me i lost my intrest in gun shooting and hunting in 1993 because i felt it wasn't challanging and exciting anymore, so i became strickly and archer and bowhunter since 1994 and havent squeezed a trigger since then, so that was my transition. what ever you decide to hunt with make sure you put the time and effort to being the best you can be at hunting and shooting, have a great day!............tra
