So, most of us that hunt FHL know by now that they are requiring that 100 square inches of visible blaze orange be worn while in the field. But........ what does 100 square inches really equate to, for those of us (me :)) that don't do math well and so have no idea if we are compliant or not?

Well........ my daughter is a freshman in a college that is vacuuming my wallet clean, and she is a declared Physics Major. So I asked her, and here is what she knocked out in about 2 minutes after measuring my hat. She took into account the hat, the bill, and then allowed for the open space in back that make the cap a "one size fits all":

Looks like an orange hat fulfills the requirement - assuming you round up. :) Do you think this will impress the wardens? :D

Imma size 7 1/2" so I think my big melon slides me in safe with just a hat. SMart daughter you got there Uncle Bambi. Thanks

Coincidentally, I'm a size 7 1/2 too - so those calculations work for you. Just don't blame me if the warden cites you because of the missing fraction of an inch. :D

My math sucks too. Good for her,in figuring out the equation.
