Hi guys, just wanted to introduce myself. I'm a paper puncher eager to start hunting in California. Here's my latest purchase I've decided to name THE HOG SLAYER
<

Okay maybe the thought of having to lug my garand or m1a around made my decision to buy easier. Hope to get great info and make some new friends

Welcome to the greatest hunting forum on the net, ChickenFried! If you haven't taken a look around in detail yet, I would encourage you to read some of the previous posts. The men and women on this site have many helpful tips and exciting stories. Being a newby myself, it helped me learn a few things that I didn't read in the
"Boar Book?. ?. ?" . . .
<
. . . well, whatever that book was called.

Anyway, welcome and thanks for joining. I look forward to hearing about your pig-outings!

Also, that's a good lookin' stock.

My Remington .06 is early 60s'. It has killed a few deer by my father, and now it is mine. A few hogs have been dropped by me with the rifle, though I have never shot a deer. My father has never shot a hog. I've tried to get him to go hog hunting with me, but i think age and his hunting interest have left him. I guess I got pigs on my mind. The old rifle is still very accurate. I shoot squirrels with it occationally. Have fun on the hunt....................

My foreman at the shop brought a Garand one year. He had added a lightened, composite stock and converted it to .308 Poor lil' hog never knew what slammed him.

Welcome to JHO!!

I have certainly gained a bunch of knowledge from this site. I decided to start hunting in California about three years ago (grew hunting in Arkansas). Since that time I have taken my first turkey and first pig. Probably would not have bagged either without the knowledge gleaned from this site. Am going after Bear this fall for the first time.
