Hello all: I have been reading your forum for a wile now. I happened across it looking for some information on doing a european mount. I did this years elk my self and it is now hanging at the top of the stairs. I just wanted to show it off a little. It was shot on the third day of the early rifle hunt in the wind river mts. here in wyoming. I am going back next week to try and fill my additional cow/calf tag. threeforks.........

Pull up a stump, stay a while.

So, how'd the european mount come out?

Here is the European mount I did with this years bull as well, My dad came out from NH and wanted a picture of him and the mount.

To get the mount nice and white, use 40+ peroxide and wrap the skull with a rag and keep sturating the rag with a turkey baster.

Thats an interesting rack on that bull. Your european mount looks great. Really good job of whitening/bleaching.

Nice job on the elk and the mount. Not only is it an interesting way to mount the horns, it's also more compact if wall space is at a premium. I have several deer and an elk done the same way.

Hey Threeforks/Elk getter!

All I can say you guys must have it tough out there. Did either of you harvest these elk on public land? Doesn't matter --- Job well done.

You guys are real lucky dogs to live in such country as that, you got to be skilled and talented too showing off those nice mounts.

congrats

Congrats on this years bull~! Great mounts too! Good idea using a slice off a round. I'm going to try that.

thetarheelkid. Yes my elk was harvested on public land. I leave in the morning to go back and try and fill my cow tag. The snow is not deep enough to drive them down yet. So we will be riding horses up into the mountains every morning. On the early hunt we pack in eight miles for a week or so. We do have a lot of competition with outfiters up there, But it the one thing that I look forward to the most every year. elk_getter, nice bull.
