Good, at least one western state is trying to undo the commercialization of the sport.

I strongly believe the anti-hunters should just sit back and watch us destroy our sport by making it a pay-to-play for the rich only type game.

Unfortunately Colorado is too far gone to see any changes now. Its all about the money here with RFW, landowner vouchers, OTC elk tags which makes leasing too easy for big money out of state guys & outfitters, etc...

COHunter, you need to re-read the article in the link.

Last November, Montana voters approved CI-161 which did away with the 5,000 Outfitter sponsored elk hunting licenses. Approval of CI-161 is a step in undoing the commercialization of hunting.

Harris has an outfitting business and his bill to recind CI-161, the will of the people, would restore the commercialization of hunting.

By no means am I an expert on out of state elk reg laws but from my research AZ does not have private land owner tags vs its next door neighboors CA and NM. Does AZ attract more out of stae revenue then say NM? I dont begrudge Mr. Harris the right to charge hunters what ever he wants in order to hunt on his property however I dont see why Mt is obligated to provide him with special landowner tags.

Sounds like a person that became a politician for his own personnal gain. he should be booted out regardless of which side of the debate you are on.His first piece of business is something that directly benefits him and detracts directly from the people it most benefits.

Our group of 5 hunters have gone twice to MT. Loved it and not used outfitter tages. But with new price on tags we are done. Love the state but are not priced out of going.
