New Mexico Javelina

I am excited! My buddy and I got drawn for New Mexico Javelina hunt JAV-1-100 (western New Mexico). I have never hunted for Javelina before and need some advice. Are there any good books or videos on the subject? Also if some one could point us to an area in New Mexico with a good population. We live a few states away, so a scouting trip is unlikely. We plan to take a few weeks off to drive down and hunt. We also hope to get some varmint calling in.
I have heard Javelina are not too hard to hunt. We plan on taking the bows but may switch to rifle if we are not doing well. We both have good Bino's and a fair spotting scope so we plan to spot and stalk. Any advise on equipment or conditions we would be likely to encouter would be appreciated. Thanks!

MATTS, do not be fooled Javelina hunting is one of the most challenging hunts. I have had a friend that drew once a while back and I went with them. Man we covered some country. Seen a lot of birds and got into some Javelina but man they took notice of us and started running. That was the end of that. May I add that it was hot! get plennty of water. I live in Albuquerque NM, and I know a lot of folks that have hunted them around here. AS you know they are not very big animals so the caliber does not matter. My friend used to take them with a 22-250. while on that hunt I recall him telling me that the closet shot he ever had was 150-200 yards. Since they are small, you also do not want to waste the meat by taking them with a big caliber rifle. It should be lots of fun.
