Change your credit card information online! Credit card application changes can be made until Tuesday, June 13 at 3 PM MDT.

ATTENTION HUNT APPLICANTS: CHECK CREDIT, DEBIT ACCOUNTS BEFORE DRAWING

SANTA FE – T he Department of Game and Fish encourages hunters who applied for 2006-2007 hunting permits via the Department's Web site to be certain that they have enough funds in their accounts before the Department conducts hunt drawings. Hunters must have available funds in their credit or debit card accounts to cover the cost of any license or permit that they applied for. If not, their application will be rejected and the opportunity will go to the next applicant selected.

Permits for deer, elk, pronghorn antelope, bighorn sheep, ibex and javelina will be issued by a random, computerized drawing. The drawing will take place during the week of June 12-17.

Results of the drawing will be available after June 21 only on the Department's Web site, www.wildlife.state.nm.us or in person at any Department office. Drawing results will be available over the telephone after July 6.



This waiting should be labeled "cruel and unusual punishment..."

The Land of Enchantment draw is near...got 'nuf funds and am anticipating an archery elk tag! We should see CC charges this week. Maybe tomorrow...maybe I should call my cc: company today. I hear tomorrow's the elk draw tho. Not sure if that's accurate or not.

And, yes, the pain is almost unbearable...

Yes, the draw is near; I have the fundage as well...and I'm waiting to see if this will be a "backpack" hunt, the conventional hunt, or if Nick and I will be headed for Colorado.

Gawked at the checking account...yes, two-hundred bucks or so are unaccounted for (a couple of elk hunts and a mulie hunt for the kid) BUT it won't list the culprit for a day or two <sigh>. When will the madness end?

Update: Checked the account again! Who wrote that check for $200 to the Del Norte Gun club??

Is this nonsense a form of self-mutilation?

Every year, about this time, I swear Game and Fish will drive me to drinking...

My source did say Wednesday and I was a day off...

When I move, I really move...

From Ripon-->temp apt. near work with 1 moving van worth of stuff...trip back to CA to get FJ, trailer and quad.

In 1.5 weeks, move into a rental home and pick up family from CA.

In 4 - 6 months, move into home that's half-way built...

Then, keel over from exhaustion & stress.....(after I take an ATV spin from my front porch up the mountain...that'll go away in a few years as it's filled in and the green space goes in)

I am afraid to leave the house...the Elk Gods may frown upon my lack of committment (You know they are ever watchful) to the "cause" of inspecting my checking account every ten-minutes for "new" activity.

Sitting in my den with the echoes of the sad children calling their pet cat's name (relentlessly walking up and down the SAME street...again and again), I ponder if I sacrificed ENOUGH felines to keep the Elk Gods happy...

I go through the "checklist" again and again trying to determine if I FORGOT something in the draw application...

And when the "possibility" of not drawing rears its ugly head, my thoughts turn evil with the planned destruction of ALL felines within a mile to ensure I am worthy of the draw next year.

At one point in my Life I was not superstitious. These past six years of drawing for hunts has altered my ability to deal with reality and has me clinging to strings of superstition that, well...are paving the way for a move to Jamaica for a year or two of brushing up on my Voodoo.

Today is the Day!

Numerous friends and colleagues report hits on their checking accounts. I too have NUMEROUS hits (one of them being a new spotting scope

), but last night around two in the morning (I got home late) a new "chunk" was missing from the account.

Hiya Bob, yeah, I'm one of t h o s e people now. It does have its benefits such as being in elk country in 15 minutes from home. Speaking of which, I saw 20 elk and a moose this a.m.!

yes but you'll never get a resident tag....

NM would have been my choice.
I think we'll see a bunch more hits monday, there just havn't been enought hits yet for it to be over.

You're right. I'll draw more non-resident LE tags in neighboring states, than resident elk tags here--I can be hunting in big bull country in less than 5 hrs into Idaho and ditto on Wyo. But, the archery opportunities are pretty good in UT around if I'm not too picky. When not hunting, my job here in SLC is pretty darned good...hard to find a SQA Manager job that fits right so I couldn't be too choosy.
