NEW PERMIT SYSTEM FOR CONTROLLED PHEASANT HUNTING:

IL DNR

7/8/02

The Illinois Department of Natural Resources has changed the method by which hunters purchase permits for the state Controlled Pheasant Hunting Program.

Permits will only be issued by calling a toll-free number (1-800-867-3547). Controlled pheasant hunting permits will not be available through the IDNR web site. Illinois residents may call and purchase one permit beginning at 8 a.m. on Saturday, August 3. Nonresidents may call to purchase one permit beginning at 8 a.m. on Saturday, August 17. Hunters may call to purchase multiple permits beginning at 8 a.m. on Saturday, September 7.

All controlled pheasant hunting permits reserved must be paid for with a credit card at the time of the call. Purchasers will be charged a transaction processing fee based on the value of the permit(s) purchased. Callers may make reservations for up to six individual hunters and their partners. Those calling in to purchase permits should have available the name, address, phone number, birth date, social security number, hunting area and hunting date(s) for each hunter.

Check the IDNR web site at http://dnr.state.il.us/admin/systems/02/PheasantNotice.htm for more details on the state controlled pheasant hunting program, hunting sites and phone-in permit reservation system.
