Hey guys,

I just noticed a new requirement to go with your paperwork for all Tejon ranch hunts.

Along with your pig tag and application, you need to submit a copy of your "Proof of Insurance" for any vehicle you'll be bringing to the hunt. If you're riding with someone else, please make it easy and include a copy of their proof of insurance... just to save a lot of backtracking.

According to Barbara, it doesn't have to be the actual card (most insurance companies give you several), but just include a photocopy.

Please don't forget to include this with your app.

I'll stick this on the pinned topic above, but wanted to make sure everyone sees it, since it applies to all Tejon hunts, not just the JHO hunt.

Guys.

So far NO ONE has included the proof of insurance with their Tejon application. If you sent the check and app in, you did not include proof of insurance.

PLEASE send that along. If you already sent everything else to me, your application is not complete without that proof of insurance.

I hate to have this come to the wire and see folks turned away because they forgot this important piece of information. It only has to be a photocopy, but it HAS to be included.

Lets say you renew your insurance in April, technically, that would not be valid proof of Insurance for the May hunt. WE all much carry such paper work to drive, will they allow you to show them at the gate or does that person need to carry a copy for Tejon?

Fritz,

For simplicity sake, I would submit the current proof of insurance with your app now, and carry the new one with you when you check in for the hunt.

Since I'm collecting all the apps for the JHO hunt, I really need to have a copy of whatever you have with the application forms and check. This way, there'll be no hold ups on your approval when I turn these things in in May.

For the other PORs, it's up to you if you'd like to try to bring the document to the gate. The requirement is the same, though... that you submit proof of insurance with your application... NOT when you arrive to check in.

I agree, that since every vehicle should have a proof of insurance document on board, this requirement is kinda a nuisance. But there ya go... this is what they're asking for, and I don't think it's a super hardship to provide it. As I said, you only need to provide a copy, not the original document.

Hope that helps.

Hey Carl,

I just found yours. It was stuck to the inside of the envelope.

Anyway, you'll need one for each vehicle that comes on the ranch. If you're driving the other guys, then I think you're good with the one copy. If the other guys are driving separately, then I'll need one for each of them.

Hey Speck,

I am one of the guys hunting with Carl. I am bringing my truck to the hunt also, but we are leaving it at the campsite. Can you give me your address to send the proof of insurance to, it will be quicker than giving it to Carl and having him send it.

Mike,

Yours is in the bunch I'm planning to send out early this coming week. Trying to do them in groups, rather than as they come in... just makes my life a little simpler.

Hi Everyone,
I was talking to some of the folks at Tejon and my curiosity got the better of me and I asked why they instituted this new policy. The lady on the phone started cussing and wailing like you couldn't imagine. She told me this wild story that she said happened at last March's POR. She said there was this "loose nut" behind the wheel of a Silver Dodge tactical vehicle who teamed up with this guy who thinks he's a character out of The Godfather movie. She called them the Roadmisser and Luca Brasi, they're joined by another hunter who she calls Josey Wales. The three of them assault a ridge on the South side of the ranch in the biggest rain storm of the year. The glitch comes when the Roadmisser can't get his coffee going before they set out and resorts to Red Bull
<
. Little does he know Luca being the good a good mobster has made Expresso.
<
The trio hunt like hell on this slope, but in the mean time the road they used to get to it has turned into a creek. Sly devils that the are, they decide to retreat in search of breakfast. Roadmisser at the helm of the tactical vehicle,is having caffiene withdrawls, while Luca is daydreaming about a plate of spagetti. Josey Wales is behind them in a blue and white Ford thats going to get new "pinstripes" when scouting for D-11.
<

Roadmisser denies it but she said they believe he pulled to the left do to lack of caffiene and plunged the tactical vehicle over the side. Its so bad Luca believes he is going to going back to sleep with the fishes...this Roadmisser is wailing something about coffee. It is later reported that another witness is still having flashbacks about seeing the Roadmissers oilpan from 1000 feet below.
<
Josey Wales gets out to access the situation but can't figure out why the Roadmisser has what appears to be Dodge seat cushion all over him..even coming out his nose.Luca seems to be coughing it up.
She kept going about these 3....muttering they kept chasing our dayum hogs, getting lost and the like...almost too hard to believe but she sent me a picture.
Tactical Emergency

She said to be careful if you get anywhere near them... and the whatever you do don't drive with the Roadmisser he has a prior history of getting stuck and might need a tank to get him out next time.

So thats why we need proof of insurance

Dang, Dilprxo! No matter how I try, I can't follow that one up.
<

But just remember. If you wanna ride with me, it may behoove you to provide coffee before we hit the road.

Oh, and pack some spare undies.

That Josey Wales guy must've been the smart one.
<
He stayed at the top of the hill while the tactical vehicle dragged all the slimey mud off the road.

You should have been around for the ride off the same hill in the dark. I don't know which was worse...getting lost with Roadmisser or watching his headlights slide from side to side in my rear view mirror

OK boys.

Yeah, Josey was smart alright.

But seems like that old Ford was doing some slip sliding on the way off the mountain that night too. The only reason the Tactical Vehicle was going back and forth so bad was because it was trying to follow the tail lights on Josey's Ford.

But lord have mercy, it was fun, wasn't it?
