New Rifle!!!

Bought a new Howa 1500 in .308 with hogue stock around X-mas. Got my first Mulie last year with my remington 870 w/ Slug barrel and plan to go for number two with my new rifle. Need advice on a good cartridge for Mulie/Hogs. Killed a lot of paper but no game so far. Wanna be ready for Mulie and possibly my first hog this year.

If you've shot a lot of paper, chances are you already know what loads your gun likes. Use one of those in a soft point bullet. Most any load from a .308, properly placed, will drop a hog or mule deer. I have a Smith and Wesson 1500 in .243, which was made by Howa for S&W 30 years ago. An awesome gun that really likes Federal Power-Shok in 100 grain.

bux-n-dux gives good advice. If you have unlimited options for grouping reasons, I'd say look for 150 or 165 grain boolits. Either is big-bad medicine for hogs or mulies at 'most any reasonable range. Are you hunting in condor range?

Try the nontoxic stuff and see if it shoots in your gun. It will make more rifle out of your .308 than typical cup and core bullets, especially with hogs.
