stickchuker  First check Jesses hunting page. That will give you some good info and a place to start. This season is just about over, but you can still find some birds. Check with biologists in the areas you want to hunt. Jesse has some listed for the DFG.
You can also check with biologists from the BLM and Forest Service.
If you have any local chapters of Quail Unlimited you can get in touch with them or go to a meeting in your area.
As far as locating the quail, when you find out about an area with birds you can look for tracks around water or listen for them calling.
Do you have a quail call? Do you know how to use one? Sometimes you can call and get a response.
Do some phoning areond and then do some scouting.
Good Luck            Fubar

A really good place to start would be getting a hold of B.L.M. in your area & try to find out were the guzzlers are.
