Hello everybody just wanted to introduce myself to the forum. My name's Hank i'm 24 and live in Pasadena (about 10 miles from LA)
I'm a complete newbie, never even shot a bow, but wanted to try something new this year.
I was thinking about attending a free lesson at the Pasadena Archers club then eventually getting my own bow.
I wanted a Bear Odyssey II but is that a women/youth bow? I don't want to purchase the wrong one or look like a spaz. Maybe a PSE Deer hunter?
I want to scout some hunting spots in the Angeles NF but I don't even know where to start.
I hike there with my dogs and a lot of is dirt path with heavy foot traffic.
Is that where people are hunting as well? Or do you just park at the side of the road and start walking through the forest?
Seems kind of random but as you can tell, I know absolutely nothing about hunting.
What's a good start animal to hunt for a newbie?
Sorry for all the questions but I'm anxious to get started. Any other advice would be appreciated.
I look forward to learning from all of you and hopefully contributing in the near future.
P.S. Does anybody know what's the most convenient way to get a hunting license around here? I checked DFG's website and most schools in the LA area aren't close at all or don't take that online pre certification.
