They're known as Javelina in the US and Mexico. I have relatives that lives in the French Guyana, border Brazil to the north. They've been hunting those hogs since they moved there from mainland France in 1986. Sounds like this Dutch scientist's discovery is 10+ years late.

I went for 3 weeks in French Guyana in 98, you see these little guys everywhere but to be able to shoot one with a trad bow is another story

Mighty long/lean looking hog to me , looks like they killed a dog . Would like to see a close-up of the head ! That is NOT a javelina !!!

Slightly enlarged it looks like a Collared Peccary minus the white collar, and with slightly longer limbs, but calling a 100 lb. Peccary a "giant" sounds silly to me.
