No Javelina For Me

Just got back from my southern AZ Javelina hunt. We got drawn for unit 35B HAM (handgun, archery, muzzeloader)hunt. Didn't even see one, out in the hills that is. We did see 2 right in town though. The residents & game officers say that the pigs can get all the food they want from peoples gardens.

Well maybe next year ? I hope to get drawn for a better unit. It seems as though this one is almost all private property now with very little hunter access to the majority of the areas were the pigs hang out. At least for now, until Game & Fish does something about it.

My wife and I are hunting javvies in deeeep south Texas in two weekends. I can't wait!!

Are you hunting on a private ranch, or do they have any good public land to hunt on there?

A couple of my buddies just got back, this was thier first hunt other than quail. Asked a warden where to go, stumbled on some water and both killed one, a 70lb to boot.

AzJim, it is a new hunting ranch so I don't know much about them. That part of the state has no season due to the high population of javvies so I have great hopes! Karen is going to be hunting with her rifle and I will be using my bow. She wants a mount REAL bad..LOL... She is leaving Monday morning to go out to Santa Clara for the week and returning Thursday to leave for the hunt on Friday morning. If ya'll see her out there, say "Howdy". I plan on filming her hunt and hope to get her to film mine so we should have something to show.!

We are back and bushed! About 1000 miles of driving in three days and three hunts thrown in makes for a tired kellyg! I'll have my site updated in a day or two (couple of teaser pics there now) but I will say, we have already been to the taxidermist.....
