She has been put to pasture. Now this trusty ol gun is experiencing new life as a custom. Savage 111 action, Bell and Carlson medalist stock, Vortex optics HSLR 6-24x44 FFP scope, and X-Caliber 25" long, 1:8 twist barrel, chambered in .260 Ackley. Did the entire build myself.

Nice! How do you like the X-Caliber barrel?

I literally built it last night, haven't shot it yet. I've heard great things and just going by looks, it's a quality piece. Chamber was clean, no chatter marks that I could see, rifling looks great, and the crown is immaculate. Looking forward o fireforming brass and working up a load!

Looks nice! How do you plan on forming your brass?
Thanks! I'm gonna load up a upper end charge of standard .260 and some cheap Nosler BTs, and directly fire form them. Then, I'll develop the load with 140 Bergers.
