Wapiti >> Nice pic. Have you seen this buck before? Our season opens this Saturday. I usually see bucks for the first week in velvet then they start rubbing.

We must have had a late rut last year because I keep seeing a lot of small spotted deer. In years past by this time of year the spots were gone.

Good Luck, thanks for sharing.

wapiti,
Nice pic/buck.  After reading your post, I realized that a roll that I had developed this past saturday may have a hard-antlered buck on it as well.  I'll have to go back and look at it closer tonite.  Maybe we'll start to see some pics now with velvet hanging off.

Nice one wapiti.  He'll make a good one in a couple more years. I haven't gotten any with velvet off yet.  Got both cameras out now though.  Turkeys are really liking the clover.  Starting to see them quite often now.

First whitetail I've seen with no fuzz Wapiti for fall 2001. The antlers still look a bit bloody maybe?Good job.

Spectr17, I can't tell if it's bloody or where he's rubbing cedar.   The latest roll had 7 bucks 4 bigger ones out of velvet and dark antlered too.

Richard, this was not taken where the elk are.  I did however go to elk country yesterday, I saw 4 bulls, called one in to 10 yards!  I set up a trail cam and should get some elk or bobcat pics.  I just hope I have the cam set to capture the racks and or a cat.

I'll check it in 10 days.

The elk are a couple hours away.  Bugling very good now.

Just got a roll developed today, and had a hard racked spike that has to be 12"-14" long . . . Had a few nice big racked bucks too, but they are still velvet covered.
