I signed up on their sight for a hog hunt giveaway and I "won".

It seems like a reasonable deal 3 days two nights hogs, varmints a guide lodging and meals. The only $ I give them is a $75 "booking fee" and a simlar cost in tip.

Anybody have any experience with these guys?

Their website is Hunting Information - Wild Hog Hunt Texas

Lefty? JoeA? interested?

Thanks all,

George

Caveat Emptor!

I too won a similar hunt with them but everyone I talk to has nothing positive to say about them. I have never been to their ranch but just last week a guy on a turkey hunt went on and on about them.

I would be very careful about a freebie in such a far away place like Texas. Call them up and ask pointed questions about any additional and added fees like skinning fee, butcher fee, ice locker fee, guide fee, caretaker/cook fee, lodge housecleaning fee, trophy fee, MANDATORY GRATUITIES/TIPS and any other fee that you should know about etc. etc. Keep your caution up and be on the look out for unexpected fees/fees in fine print........THERE ARE NO FREE LUNCHES with very, very few exceptions. Also ask them if you will be free to hunt around the ranch or you will be CONFINED/REQUIRED TO STAY PUT INSIDE A BLIND and not allowed to hunt or spot around the ranch. Ask about the hunting restrictions as I have been on a hunt where we were put inside a blind and that's where we stayed all day long.

That is funny. I won the same thing, got the email yesterday. They must give everyone that signs up the free hunt figuring that only a few will actually follow through.

I checked into it and after paying the booking fee($75), license($48), tips(recommended minimum $100), cleaning fee($35/average size pig) it would come out to $258 for 1 pig, plus the cost of getting there. That is getting pretty close to the cost of going somewhere in California.

Let us know if you end up going.

Yeah there are costs but what is interesting to me is that it is for 3 days. We can hunt yotes etc during that time if we already scored a pig. The only other paid hunt I went on was at Tejon and once you scored you went home.

I wonder how the other hunts work - if you score early do you still get to stay and play.

True, I hadn't thought about it being 3 days with meals and everything.

I saw this outfit posted on another site and it looks very similar if not the same. Free hunt givaways with a $75 booking fee plus tips and cleaning fees with predator hunting included. Similar package as far as hunt days.

Ironically there were negative posts about this operation as well.
