MIKE:

Spent 18 years in the "General" area, actually in Libby,Mt.but had a Hunting friend that lived in Eureka.Since You posted in the Elk forum,I'd gues that is what You are after ???Elk hunting in "THIS" local' is POOR at best. Not to say an occassional Bull isn't taken, but You can hunt a whole Season and not see HORNS.Not a Bad area for Muleys and Shirus Moose in the Eureka area, especially on the East side of Lake Koocanusa."Booner" whitetail live on the West side of Lake ,also.Travel West of Eureka, across the lake and go up into the "YAAK" area,a liitle of everything to hunt up in their. At one Bar in the "Yaak",they serve You in a "Mason Jar",if You want a "BREW".Beautifull country,Good trout fishing, but in this area the Elk hunting is below par ---

MikenSoCo, I've hunted in districts 103, 104 and some in 100 mostly around Libby. Az is more knowlegable about the area than I am for sure. I believe he's right about the number of elk to be seen. They're there, but not in large numbers and they're hard to find. Last year I saw 17 head in two weeks of hunting. 16 of them should still be there. I never had any luck when it came to any special drawings for cows. I hunt there with some friends that live there, so it makes it a pleasant hunt for me, but for you to get the most bang for your buck you could do better elsewhere. Still it can't be all that bad, I plan on going back!
