WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Barack Obama angrily denounced his former pastor for "divisive and destructive" remarks on race, seeking to divorce himself from the incendiary speaker and a fury that threatens to engulf his front-running Democratic presidential campaign.

Obama is trying to tamp down the uproar over the Rev. Jeremiah Wright at a tough time in his campaign. The Illinois senator is coming off a loss in Pennsylvania to rival Hillary Rodham Clinton and trying to win over white working-class voters in Indiana and North Carolina in next Tuesday's primaries.

"I am outraged by the comments that were made and saddened over the spectacle that we saw yesterday," Obama told reporters at a news conference Tuesday.

Too little too late.
Wright is an angry racist continuing the hatred for his own profit, and cut from the same cloth as farrakhan, jackson and sharpton.
If any of these mouthpieces really cared at all for "their own people", they would be promoting personal responsibility for ones actions, self worth over drugs or crime, pursuit of jobs over entitlements, abstinence until marriage instead of 60% pregnancy rate in single teens, service to the community instead of gangs and criminal violence,etc...
These people claim to speak for their own yet promote continued devisiveness aand hatred in order to gain more power...

And gain more money, they make a living off of hate and keeping the pot stirred.

This was all set up. Wright runs his mouth again and gives Obama the perfect timing to refute him and his beliefs. Would not surprise me if Wright got a nice check in the tithing plate from a "unknown donor" to facilitate the actions.

How does Obama possibly accomplish that with any credibility? 20+yrs. is a long time to decide that you don't like your Pastors world views. It's not like Wright has changed. Obama's gonna have to accept the fact that his association with Wright will be his undoing as far as Presidential aspirations go. People are not gonna hand this guy teflon status when it comes to divisive racial politics. Things are looking better for Algore every day.

What Obama is trying to divorce himself from the racist Rev. Wright??? Is he going to divorce himself from the black community now? Did he make a comment about how he could no more divorce himself from Wright than he could from the black community or something like that??? I guess Obama is not the above the fray politician that he claims, he sure tossed Rev. Wright under the bus when things got too hot.
