I was wondering if someone might know if the odds of drawing an Elk Tag in CA increase or decrease for a non resident. My Dad and I have been putting in for the last 5 years on a party app. and have 5 points each. He has been a resident of CA up until this year and just changed his residency to AZ where they have retired to. We are going ot apply on a party app again and thought maybe since the State collects $1160 from a non resident for an elk tag as opposed to few hundred for a resident it may increase our chances. Anyone know?

The odds still stay the same but no more than 1 NR may draw a tag is my understanding.

No difference in odds between resident and NR. Everyone is in the same pool. Up to one tag may be awarded to NR, just depends on if they get lucky (it happens). If I recall correctly a NR can not put in as a party either. I think it says it on the apps or in the big game booklet. I am out of the office right now but am pretty sure that is correct.

Just confirmed it, NR can not apply as a party. It states it on the application and in another section of the Digest. Good luck to everyone.
