My prayers go out to the officer, his family, and the guides family. It is a tragic way to remind of of the safest practices we all need to follow when we are out there.

Now I understand why Larry (my guide) on my bear hunt asked me to unload before heading down the steep mountainside. I wasn't sure why at the time...just followed his lead. One slip and now two lives are forever ruined. I don't know that I could live with myself after that. He must feel awful. Truly a sad story.

Sad. The Montrose paper said the rifle was a .243 and did not mention it was a deputy.
