Officials Battle Eurasion Milfoil in Lake Margrethe
Grayling, Mich. — Authorities are going to war this year against an exotic water plant called Eurasian milfoil that has invaded a northern Michigan lake near the National Guard’s Camp Grayling.
“It’s terrible stuff,” said Joe Porter, president of the Lake Margrethe Property Owners Association.
Last year, a lake management firm treated 30 acres of Lake Margrethe and 2.5 miles on Portage Channel with herbicides to control the milfoil. This year, the lake association will once again treat the lake.
