Which is the better camera? Olympus C-5050 or C-750 Ultra Zoom? Price wise not a big difference in the over scheme of things. The 5050 appearance gives the camera a more professional look. Is that look cosmetic or is there features that back up the professional looks. The 750 have a 10X zoom, which is a real nice feature. The 5050 zoom is 3x optical zoom. I do not know the macro capabilities of each camera. Do they have macro capabilities without adding an additional lens? Which cameral has the better picture quality or are they equivalent? The 5050 is 5MP and the 750 is 4MP. I would use the camera for general all round use, including wildlife photography. I also like to be able to take close-up photos (macro). What do you all know about these cameras’ and which one would you buy?

not sure about the 750 but I have a 740 and the macro works well...if I want a great picture I use tiff, but it takes a very large picture so you need a big card.

You can only get 6 pictures on a 64mg card...also you need to humble yourself when chasing around butterflies and bees when your out in public

My brother in law has the C-5050 and he used to have the C 2100 (Older brother to the C-750). I asked him about it last month and he doesn't like the 5050 for various reasons. He wishes he had the 2100 back. I personally would go with the 750.

2 different critters. Get the C-750 for the 10x telephoto for outdoors pics. It also has a EVF (small monitor) viewfinder that lets you see exactly what you are going to get. Too many other great features to describe here. Get one and you will be happy.

I have the Oly C3000, which was the far back ancestor ( all of 3 years ago!) of the C5050 series. Mine has the 3X optical lens, and I think having only 3X is way too limiting. The 3X setting is only about equivalent to 100 mm on a 35 mm camera. It's just not enough for wildlife pictures. The 10X zoom on the 750 is pretty doggone good; I think that's the way to go.
