Last year I took this Lion in the Kalahari. Now it's mounted and about to be shipped home. Can't wait to have it in my trophy room.

Very nice! What caliber did you use to take him?

Thanks guys. I used a .375 H&H CZ 550 bolt action pushing 300 grain Swift A-Frames. It took 3 shots to kill. #1 in the center of the chest at 35 yards. Charge started at 40 yards. Wasn't my choice, and it was unprevoked. Lion's just don't like me. Every one of them I've encountered did the same thing. #2 was broadside as he turned to run away. Result: double lung. Lion went behind a thorn bush and laid flat, growling and hissing at me. I never moved, just stood my ground and waited. Within 1-2 minutes, he got up and attempted to run away. #3 took him just in front of the left shoulder, entering the neck, skull and exited the right muzzle area. Yeah I know, it blew a silver dollar sized hole in his muzzle. The Taxidermist completely covered the damage and can't be seen anymore. PH was Charl Van Rooyen; Taxidermy studio was Life-Form in Mpumalanga, RSA.
Good hunting,
GGS
