Most of you are well familiar with deershed on this forum. I had the chance to do some shed hunting with him and two of his boys this weekend and I gotta tell ya, those are nice kids and boy can they ever get around in the woods. I wasn't too suprised about his 15 year old but his 7 year old kept up with us for literally miles of walking in tough conditions ranging from ice to deep snow to bare ground, all day long. We only found one shed but I was so impressed with his boys....any dad would be happy with those two. Nice job deershed.

Thanks Shag! Shame we couldn't find any of those elk sheds though.We all had a great time and learned again how hard they are to come by.We stayed til 4:00 and checked that last place out we were looking at earlier in day.We saw more fresh sign there then any where else we had looked.Tracks everywhere and droppings laying on top of the snow,even saw shavings from a rub laying on top of snow.
When I got off work at 4:00 today the little one and I went down to that orchard I was telling you about.The weekend only got him fired up.
We looked for about an hour in the areas that were free of snow and he
found two small sheds,one a Y and the other a 4 Pt.

You gotta be kiddin me! I guess I'm not suprised. He's 7 years old and will no doubt find more than I will this spring by a long shot. You would not believe, I'm lookin for my pistol to shoot myself---we got 10" of snow today (it snowed here Sunday some too). I'm just never going to be able to get it going because it just won't stop snowing. I counted 130 whitetails (at least, just the ones I could count for sure) in a 50 mile or so stretch of Rte 17 across the Southern Tier on my way home. One bunch of about 30, one with about 20 and the rest small bunches of anywhere from one to 6 or 7. Not a horn showing on any of them. All on those south facing banks with some good pitch to em--clear of snow. Later.
Here's a pic of Shag's 4pt shed he found while looking for elk sheds with the little guy picking it up for him.He's quick to volunteer in that department every time.
