I have a Ruger 96 chambered in .44 mag with factory sights to accompany my .44 SW629 Classic Revolver.

I am either going to buy 1) XS Ghost rings, 2) Williams Receiver sight, or 3) use a 1.5-4.5 RedHead scope I have.

Please vote, and tell me why!

I put XS just because i love 'em so much...

But ultimately it comes down to what you want to do with the rifle.

My Timber Carbine with the XS set-up is meant to be used close up in tight brush where a scope wouldn't work as well in target aquisition.

With the rather quick drop of the .44 bullet there isn't much gainded by adding a scope, unless you are so used to scopes that you have trouble with a peep sight. At 100 yards you should do as well with the peep as you do with a scope. The disadvantage of the scope is that it can fog up, be bumped and generally tends to be in the way. That's why I am going to a peep now on my 94 win which is 30-30. I can shoot well with a good set of open sights. Even my muzzleloader shoots groups of less than 4" at 100 yards with fiberoptic open sights. In the field, unless you have a very good rest, other factors determine accuracy.
