BIKES ON PARADE

Cyclists of all ages will gather at 10 a.m. Saturday in Davis for a bike parade from Community Park (on F Street) to Central Park (Third and B streets) as part of 350 Davis: Climate Action Day, held in conjunction with the International Day of Climate Action.

Another of the day's events, a Carbon Footprint Education Expo and Vendor Fair, will be staged from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Central Park.

JINGLE YOUR SPURS

Pack in a weekend of team races, roping, cattle sorting and steer packing at the Mule Packer's Challenge, held at 8 a.m. Saturday and Sunday at Frogtown Arena at the Calaveras County Fairgrounds in Angels Camp.

POLES TO POLES

Learn how to prevent injury by using trekking poles in a free program titled "Power With Poles," led by Jayah Faye Paley at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at REI Roseville, 1148 Galleria Blvd.; (916) 724-6750.

Paley will offer a free health seminar using the same fitness principles from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at REI Sacramento, 1790 Expo Parkway; (916) 924-8900.

FISHING EVENTS

• The Sacramento-Sierra chapter of Trout Unlimited is looking for volunteers to assist in a fish survey of Caples Creek on Nov. 4. For more information: (916) 502-2433.

• Jeff Weaver of the Department of Fish and Game will discuss fisheries projects at the Sacramento-Sierra chapter of Trout Unlimited meeting, 7 p.m. Nov. 5 at the Mission Oaks Community Center, 4701 Gibbons Road, Carmichael.

WINTER SURVIVAL

Whether you're a beginning or experienced winter recreationist, if early winter weather has you itching to get outdoors, consider a winter skills class hosted by the El Dorado Nordic Ski Patrol.

The free program will cover everything from avalanche awareness and hypothermia to equipment and emergency shelters.

The class is from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 7 at the Forest Service office, 100 Forni Road, Placerville.
