Outdoors: Rend Lake Resort will host a Celebrity Quail Hunt event

The Illinois Conservation Foundation's 9th Celebrity Quail Hunt will be held Nov. 3-5 at Rend Lake Resort, Whittington, Ill.
Proceeds support youth hunting and educational programs. Invited celebrities include Mark Bortz, Mark Clark, Danny Cox, Tim Norman, Red Schoendienst, Jackie Smith, Mike Shannon and others. Participants will shoot sporting clays, trap and five-stand on Sunday at the Rend Lake Conservancy District Shooting Complex and then hunt quail and pheasants on Sunday. The cost is $500, which includes accommodations, meals, refreshments, hunting guides, ammo and gifts.

Monday: Autumn color drive with the park interpreter at Pere Marquette State Park, Grafton. Meet at 8:30 a.m. at the visitor center and end up at the lodge for lunch. For information call 618-786-3323.
Tuesday: Program for families or groups on wolves at the Wild Canid Survival and Research Center in Lone Elk Park. $5 per person. To register call 314-615-4386.
Nov. 2: Illinois Waterfowl Alliance duck and goose calling contest at Christ the King Community Center, 3205 60th Street, Moline, Ill. For information call Mike Eddy, 309-764-4863 dugos@mchsi.com.
Nov. 9: County Parks Canoe and Kayak Club Mississippi River Kayak Paddle, 18 miles from Clarksville, Mo., to Foley. Bring your own kayak. $5 insurance for nonmembers. Call 314-567-1452.
