Went up to my place on Friday afternoon to chase deer. Late in the evening I spotted a nice buck all the way across the valley and headed off toward him, but he was perfectly located on a bluff with a view all around and busted me as I closed in. I turned back to the valley and spotted a herd of hogs grazing so headed back to them. I got to them as they were at the edge of the valley, with some on the hillside foraging for acorns. I lined up on a decent sow there and dropped her from about 100 yards, sending the rest running. A big boar ran past me at 40 yards or so - dropped him at full run with a shot to the neck. Sow was probably 150+, boar 225+.
I got the quad and ran a rope around both of their necks and dragged them back to base. Last thing I need is more pig meat so I gutted them both and took them to a local Asian family that has a farm nearby. They like to eat the skin, head, and other parts that I can't stomach so no need to skin them. Kind of fun driving down the road with the big boar hanging from the back of my car!
