Heres a nice sunset frog Slammer from yesterday from my newest pond.
Then I was on the bridge pond and spotted a pair of 25" bull males cruising the bank side by side. I tried a couple of my irresistible baits and they totally ignored it. I was watching them slam bait fish hard along the banks, they were going against the current too pretty smart bass for sure, I had bass fever for a few minutes they didnt stick around to long. Tomorrow the course is closed and my goal is strictly to try and hook a personal best pond Monster. Stay tuned!....tra
Yesterday morning it was already very hot with a 100% humidity but no wind the ponds were like glass. It had stormed violently the night before.
After about 30 minutes fancasting my booyah frog along the bank I get a hard blow up and set the hooks good and reel in a nice solid pound lunker Largemouth on the bank. Great way to start the morning except about 6 in. Of my pole rod tip snapped. I think this is the 4 pole in 6 years I have snapped on huge bass.
Hooked so many big ones on it and in the last 10 days I hooked that huge gar then that huge toad bass then the lunker yesterday.
I still have 2 back up frog poles loaded and ready.
Now I have to do some fly fishing they r hitting the dragonflys that r hatching like crazy and hovering the ponds and the bass r hitting them big time.
Yesterday morning I took my fishing bike out to a pond on the back course I have been trying to get to for a month now, it holds some pond Monsters for sure. Only after about 3 cast with my booyah weedless frog in the back corner of the pond I got a quick grab and release I figured it was a gar, but just about 2 feet from the bank I get a suprising major blow up, I just react and jerk the pole up hard and set the hooks I have something going crazy and violent it was hard to see through the bushes I thought I had a little gator. I get it out but it hangs up in the bank brush and I can't tell what it is yet I grab my braided line with one hand keep it tought and slowly reach down and see a huge Largemouth hung up. Grabbed it by its bucket mouth and got it on the bank I was stoked.
I guess it took a swipe at my frog and missed and followed it to the bank edge and slammed it hard I was totally caught off guard and surprised when it struck.
This bass was a solid 24" , a 2 foot bass is incredible and I have hooked a handful over the last few years. what sucks is it had the length but not the girth, when this bass bulks up it will b a double digit in the future for sure. It still was a solid pond Monster and after waiting 3 weeks to hit this pond up it didnt let me down at all.
Later on I get another blow up on my frog in the mucky bank edge and this time it was a small 2 1/2 foot gator around 10 pounds, it was pissed and hissing it had one hook stuck in its mouth gullet. I had to keep my line super tight hold its tail down and reach in with my fishing pliers and was able to pop out the hook quickly and release it back in with out getting bit and saved my booyah frog and the gator was free agian to enjoy life.
Wish I could of filmed it but I would of needed a third arm...lol..
This fish had a good size Bucketmouth for sure my whole fist fit no problem, enjoy!
P s. I really had to stretch both my short arms out to take these selfies with a 24 incher like this, next i want to hook a 25-26 that would b fenominal and I believe I have seen them that size for sure, wont know till I get one on the bank in hand. Another reason to keep casting.....tra
