We know PBS can take something of a liberal slant when it comes to issues like hunting, but all is not lost. I had the opportunity to take the KQED QUEST crew on a hunt last month, and hoped for the best when the episode came out.

The heck with it... couldn't do an embed. Oh well, you can see it here: Hog Wild - KQED QUEST Television Story

Nice one.

edit:

I thought the piece was nicely done. I would have liked the gain on your mic and Holly's mic to be up so your words would have had more emphasis with the viewer.

I saw a very positive production and shows hunters in a very favorable light.

Good shot, Speck! I love it when they fold up like that.......

I would have never dreamed that a PBS produced program could show hunting in such a favorable light. A lot of that has to do with you and Holly so thanks for being great ambassadors to our sport.

We have 60 Minutes working over here on a story on the resurgence of hunting. They were looking for young professionals who were new to the hunt (which ruled me out) but a young bloke I have been helping with his deer has taken up the challenge and is going to give it a go. We are naturally very suspicious of anything the mainstream media do in relation to guns or hunting but these people have spun a good line and we hope we can get something at least neutral (on the "moral" issue) out of them. If it comes out like Speck's story we will be very happy

Thanks all! It was pretty cool working with those guys, and like I said, I'm real happy about the way the show turned out.

The pressure was on for that shot. Between the camera, the sound guy, the producers, the landowner and his buddy, and two of my guide friends... well, my reputation was on the line. Glad I got lucky. :skeered:

I have to make a few comments....Phil, so now that your a guide you forgot your camo.....except for the AM? How typical except you can actually shoot a moving target and you only used 2 rounds!!! WWWWWait a minute you were using copper!!! sorry all of the shots hit but that damn copper passed through. Maybe next time wait to see if Hollie killed the Hog......typical guide not wanting to chase some pig in the brush and earn your tip!!!J/K:rotflmao:
And last but not least.....you used the word "Symbiosis" you just lost the entire audience!!! I didn't know that there is a word quiz during each hunt but any English teacher will be glad to know that you are keeping the students on their toes!!
:lol bashing sign:

Now on a serious note.....I don't feel sorry or sad for the animal(but everyone has their own opinion) In fact I never do unless we didn't kill the animal quickly. I'm usually jumping for joy or congratulating the lucky hunter, thinking how in the H are we going to get that animal out of that HH!!! or calling the wife and explaining how I'm going to be busy the next day cleaning meat!!!!

But I love that someone enlightened Holli on where our food comes from!!! If only every human came to this decision and became a veggie or accepted hunting for their meat.
