I love this camera! I always wanted to experiment with different photography techniques with my 35mm SLR but never did because it would be too expensive with film. With this thing though, I'm free to experiment all I want and it doesn't cost a penny!

I love how this pic of my truck turned out, I can actually create a shallow depth of field with this camera, something I was never able to do with my old one.

One of the many peace lily's we recieved following my brother's accident, again it's just too cool to be able to start being artistic with photos like this.

I've got some other photos, but they aren't as nice as these. I'm gonna play around with it some more and hopefully get more cool photos.

Good start

I can't wait till I can get the money saved up for a dslr for just the same reason you said----just too expensive to play with 35mm....keep playing/learning.

congrats on the new camera Trav! Excited to see what you can do with it. Im sure its nice to know you can try all kinds of stuff without having the $ penalty. I had the same feeling as you with the shallow DOF when I got my dslr.. my old point and shoot didnt have much punch when it came to high f/stops (eg f/2.8).

and uh.. you need to wash your truck bro!

thanks, my old digital point and shoot let you change the White Balance modes, that was pretty much all it did, there were no other manual settings, so it's a big step up.

and yes I know I need to wash it, I took it down some dirt roads yesterday where people like to dump deer hoping to find some antlers with no success. It wasn't until I got home I saw what a mess they'd made of my truck lol

forgive the bad writing with the flashlight, but fun with bulb mode, I didn't have a remote control so I had to hold the shutter button down with one hand and try to spell JHO in front of the lens with a snake light with the other, I always wanted to try this ever since I saw my photography instructor do it. I could see how this could provide hours of fun with a remote that you could lock down the shutter button with.

few pics of my two 10 pointers, a close-up of the stickers on the one that's a 6x4. This cam captures detail so much better than my old one.

The d-50 I believe has a timer for what you are wanting to do.
