this pig was taken at cedar canyon ranch gun used was 30 06 this is typical of the wound from a barnes bullet . i helped the hunter sight in his gun lead core ammo and copper ammo had a 5'' variance in impact points lead was high left copper low right so gun was not sighted in to begin with zeroed gun with lead bullets to bullzeye shot copper impact 3'' low right 2 rounds later bullzeye and here are the results note pig did not move but to roll down hill after behing hit . bullet expanded before rib cage on impact side.

What I love about Barnes all copper bullets is good penetration and also minimal meat damage. I don't have to deal with disintegrated meat on the body or the hams...........the bullet kills without excessive meat destruction.

Lead bullets vs. lead bullets have POI variation from load to load as well, that has very little to do with bullet materiel and more to do with bullet design, propellant type, propellant amount, bullet weight, etc.

I've had over 3" of variation in point of impact with the exact same factory load with a different lot number.

Not trying to argue your point, just adding a little food for thought. Thanks for the pictures!

I've been very satisfied with the Barnes MRX bullets in 308 - except the $1.5 per projectile price, the TSX are only fairly accurate in my rifle. lost a couple of ribs on each side as it was thru and thru on my pig but other than she ran 20 yards and died. dropped a yote with a neck shot also, not that that was very hard.

I just loaded some 150gr E-tips for my 7mm weatherby mag. We'll see how well it performs in the upcoming hunts. But I do like accuracy over major damage and the barnes x bullets shoot accurate as its performed nicely.

You will love the E-Tips. I haven't shot anything with the Barnes, but I used an E-Tip 30-06 this morning , one shot kill at about 75 yards. Here's the porker I took this morning near FHL. Little meat lost, the lungs and heart were creamed.

copper don't like to be shot hot or the groups get big. It works out best if you hand load them I got 1" groups with my 270.

I load my 270wsm to about 75% of maximum. In addition to adjusting the COAL, I can get 3 shots inside the area of a dime.

With the .338 Win. Mag.(225 grn. Barnes X at 2,780 feet/second) and the .300 Win. Mag.(180 grn. Barnes X at 2,980 feet/second) the loadings are mild and they shoot accurately in my Tikka .300 WM with 1/2" groups at 100 yds. and in my .338 WM Browning Automatic Rifle with 2.5" groups at 100 yds. with the B.O.S.S. which I left alone at the factory setting because I did not want to waste expensive ammo(factory loaded Barnes X) fiddling with the B.O.S.S.
The B.A.R. is heavy so I don't use it except point blank shooting from the Texas treestands. The Tikka is light for it's caliber and I find it very handy hiking the hills with it's lighweight. I am not going back to lead ammo.............excessive meat destruction and finicky penetration if you hit the big hog shoulder bones or if you try a running away tail to throat shot. With the Barnes X.......with the heavy bullets.....penetration is not an issue. I haven't recovered any of my heavy Barnes X bullets yet.
