I posted the story. It is a little long winded but I like to get it down on paper (so to speak) for myself as well. Helps in remembering the event as time marches on.

I have never been accused of being a writer, so please disregard spelling and grammar mistakes

BDB great story and write up. Congratulatons on the first pig and even better with a bow! I tell all my hunters to try and hit 'em low and forward. The heart sits low and in the front of the chest cavity.

Well told, Steve! There's some details I didn't catch when you told it in camp.

Sitting in the hills the next morning waiting on hogs and deer I was playing the entire event over in my head a few times and little things pop into your head. I find I'm still doing it now. I guess I need to hunt more

Maybe there will be some deer pics after the bow opener in D zone in 2 weeks

As a side note, the pig did manage to exact a small amount of revenge on me. Either she was playing in the poison oak or I was and I was being pretty careful.

Either way I have some ichin' and a scratchin' going on on...........

Congrats BDB! What a shot too! Looking forward to getting my first bow pig.

As far as the poison oak goes, looking at your pics it looks like your pig was lying right in some nice young stuff! Aww, the joys of hunting in the lowlands! Last A zone deer I shot rolled down the hill right through one of the biggest patches of poison oak there! I must of been holding things right there, only had one small patch show up on one hand.

Please excuse me for bringing this thread back to the top but I just can't help it. With my broken ankle/crutches, I've missed the best of the deer season

At the time, I took pride in hosting your everydauy hunter to a private land hunt. I took great enjoyment in BDB nailing his first pig. I took even more enjoyment in looking at that heart shot! I have also shared my family hunting spot up in D6 with him and bigdaddybubba. It's reading of all you guys helping eachother out that has kept me sane through being laid up. I was a bit dismayed at the hog posts concerning a certain character, but all in all, I've found all you guys to be great!

Mike

I have met quite a few people from this site since I started reading the posts and joined over a year ago. I have hunted at CR, and FHL with 6 or 8 guys from the site and they ALL were great guys.

Mike, as you said, you invited me up to hunt with you and also pointed me to a great spot in D6. I can't say how grateful I am on both counts.

I didn't know a single hunter in CA when I moved here and my first year or two were tough just trying to figure out the system and places to hunt. JHO and the people I have met changed that and this has been a great year of making new friends and some really fun hunting trips. Still no deer for me in CA but I'm getting closer
<

Cheers to the great folks here at JHO
