Does anyone know what the pig hunting is like on Camp Roberts?  Is it Military only or open to the public?  I'm looking at heading up there in a couple of weeks.  Any help would be great.  Thanks

I talked to Jeff Cann, he is the DFG biologist out there.  It is open to public, not sure how it works though.  Pigs have been taken, but not very often.  You should think about Fort Hunter Liggett.  There's been lots of pig taken off that base.

Camp roberts is open to the public. But only certain times of the year.Get a dfg hog hunting guide there free from blm & dfg.In it it has several area's & phone #'s to them.Camp roberts # is 805-238-8167.There are hogs there.Unlike fhl you can go thruout the whole base. The cost used to be $15.00 for the weekend.Fhl has more pigs but it's massive compared to camp roberts. You get 1 area of you're choice to hunt though. You have to purchase voucher 3 weeks in advance & there $25.00 weekend. You still have to know what area's typically hold hogs.So My opinion is fhl blows camp roberts away.Hunting hogs on (ANY PUBLIC LAND) is hard. It's still the right place at the right time.Roberts is open now during deer season. If you go Look by the river early in the mornings.Oh yeah take alot of water cause it is (HOT)
