I was just was informed that Hunting Pictures.com is run by the same clowns who run HuntChat.com and AnglersChat. This company is a notorious spammer, in fact I just received another spam from them today that I never signed up for. Rocky Raab, who runs HuntChat, has been contacted by several of us to get off his spam list and for some reason we cannot get anything done.

Pease boycott this company which has no regard for your privacy or good manners on the Internet.

You can use http://www.webshots.com/ to store your pics

I know nothing of huntingpics specifically, good or bad, but I do know that there are a number of folks who will write "crawlers" that go through all the text on a web page and all the pages on a site looking for someone@wherever.com type stuff and add it to a spam list.  I had a friend show me one time and he pulled about 100,000 email addresses in under an hour.  Pretty easy to do unfortunately.  I've actually had a couple that came from my email address being listed here at JHP.  Bummer, yes, but the price that you pay to have people being able to reach you.

Like I said, these guys may be snakes, but do realize that there is another legit (to them) way that they could be unknowingly/unintentionally getting your email address into others hands...

I wondered where all that crap in my inbox was coming from. I have a couple email addy's that I don't use often and I used one to set up an account with them. Now I get all kinds of crap from other places. It may be me but when I try and "opt out", I seem to get even more. Hmmm....

Songdog,

I realize the bots can pick up email addresses off webpages but these companies don't have to buy them just so they can spam our email in boxes. The other problem many people have is trying to get off the spam lists. I've gone through a bunch of hoops trying to get off several hunting websites that are spamming me and no luck so far, (see the computer section for listing of spaming websites).

The other problem with spam is the immense volume of it costs US money and wastes our time to read it and delete it. Some say what's the problem? Only 3 or 4 a day isn't bad but when you have a webpage and have been using the Internet for a few years the spam grows to 30 or 40 a day. Spamming  is now illegal in some states it has gotten so bad.

These are companies who have sent me unsolicited spam emails. I have tried to get off some of these companys email spam list but I have not had any real succes yet.

Canadian Camo

This company sends out spam emails to addresses obtained from huntin websites. DO NOT REPLY to the link to be taken off the spam list, it only verifies your email address. I have obtained a name and number to contact to get off their spam list.  Contact Greg Black   PH# 613-831-9774.

ehuntingcentral.com

This company started spamming on 12/12/01.

eders.com

No one I know of can get off this spam list.

If you have any companies who have sent you unsolicited email spam and you would like to list them here, please do do. The only way to stop the spamming is to not patronize these companies and hopefully they fold up and blow away.

Some ways  to avoid spam are:

Make sure the admin email is unchecked when you register for a forum. The admin email function is usually checked by default to make sure to check it udner your profile.

DO NOT REPLY to spam email, it just verifies your email addy to the spammer. They then sell their list to other spammers.

More info on how to stop spamming at SpamCon Foundation.

There is also a thread below on how to sue spammers for money if your state allows it.

Me too.  I"ve been wondering where all that crap is coming from.  I opt out one day and I'm signed up again the next.  It's a vicious circle I tell ya'.

Thanks for the notice.  I had been thinking about using Hunting Pictures.com.  I am glad I never got around to doing so.

I dropped hunting-pictures.com a few weeks back. The new site that Jesse mentioned works real well. It produces crisp sharp images and is not hard to use at all. Plus you don't have a big logo on the top of your pictures.

oops! I just signed up 2 hours ago to post my pictures!
I was also told to never reply to those "if you didn't subsribe to this" parts because that also sends your email out to new spammers.

Spectr17,

You ever thought of starting your own just for this site.  I don't know what would be involved but seems like these guys are paying for a service that they are not getting along with other problems.

It was just a thought.  Since your already into the website stuff already.

I will shut up now.

I hate checking my e-mail. I have AOL and instead of the program saying," You've got mail," it should say, "You've got porn." So I have to delete about 12 e-mails a day. I geuss it could be worse if I went to chat rooms but I don't. I go to this site, women hunters.com and Kentucky hunting.com. If someone wants an e-mail address all they have to do is go to the members directory and you have thousands of names. AOL use to crack down on spam but they must be slacking because it's getting worse.

My latest email from hunting-pictures.com notified me that they're going to have to start adding advertising to cover the high cost of the website.  Consider me gone.  Thanks for the webshots.com info.

email version of junk mail.

Here's the technical definition:
Sending and Posting Advertising in Mass.

This use of the term "SPAM" stands for unsolicited commercial email (UCE), screen spam, blinking banners, or other commercial visual pollution which does not relate to the subject matter, and which attempts to lure you away from the content of the page you came for.
