What tribe was the fist one to own this land? How do we know the Pomos are the rightfull owners? Where did they get this land and from who? I think if we give them back "their" land they should not be able to use, or have any of "our" inventions, It needs to stay all native. I dont think Sitting Bull played any slots.

Cabazon CA was once barren desert ground no one supposedly wanted. Now there is a huge Indian casino resort there with golf course and more malls planned. They've locked up the whole southern border to the San Bernardino NF and San Gorgonio wilderness area.

Yeah, I'm sure their motives are pure *cough*

If third grade history memory serves me right did'nt "we" (My family was in Salt Hill Galway having a similar argument with britain at the time, before they got tossed into Australia and had the same argument with the Abos) take it from the Mexicans who took it from Spain who with the Russians brought the hogs we hunt here? I know the Native Americans did not make the missions nor did they name alot of the citys and towns after Saints and Mexican citys i.e Los Angeles San Francisco Sonora Los Gatos Los Altos San Jose and so on, Many of which were named and settled by Rancheros who had little reverence for Native Americans as is the case today by the border area Commencheros and Cheracowas who live in terrrible conditions and resort to begging and selling chicklets in the street.

Land is controlled by whoever wields the power. It was the same when there were just indian tribes here. Now we, the U.S., "own" it and honestly, there is no giving back. Where do we stop? Do we determine the very first group that was here and deed it to them? I don't think so. Next subject.

smhuntley,

I got drunker than a hundred indians the other night, does that make me part Native American?
Were you born an American? If so, then you are a Native American...drunk or otherwise.

Liberal touchy feely stuff like this is killing our country. Politicians don't have the balls to say "no".
We conquered the land from the indians, mexicans and who ever else got in the way. That's what men are programmed to do and that's what made us americans. We should'nt apologize to for being who we are. This is our country "LOVE IT OR LEAVE IT". I live close to the casino and I can tell you that they're pulling millions out of that place and not a dime goes back to help the common indian. Be proud of your heritage but remember your an american first.

"There can be no fifty-fifty Americanism in this country. There is room here for only 100 percent. Americanism, only for those who are Americans and nothing else."
Theodore Roosevelt

P.S.

Just my opinion

Amen Goin918. I live in hot bed of that garbage and I tell ya I wish that some folks would sit back for a minute and realize that there family left where there ancestrol home was because this is the greatest country on earth. In Ireland where my family traces it's root there is roughly 4 million folks living there, while in America 400 million can trace thier history to Ireland. Now my math says thats because we have every oppritunity here. I wish that people would stop looking for an appology all the time and start realizing how good we got it here

Unless I misread your comments, I'd re-check your math. The odometer of the total US population just turned over 300 million recently...Irish ancestry or otherwise. We'll need a few more years of the Democrats' control of Congress before we get to 400.

Let me start by saying that I am, in fact, part NA. A very small percentage, but NA nonetheless. And I still can't shoot my bow worth a darn.....

Anyways, I would like to know when people (any and all races, that is) are going to stop asking for hand-outs (land, money or anything else) from our government. I am tired of paying a huge amount of money in taxes because somebody's great, great-grandfather was wronged by the American government way back when. If you wanna use that as an excuse, go right ahead as long as I am not paying for it. I wasn't there and I didn't do it, so I'm not payin' for it. I could go on, but why? I thiink I've vented enough.

It was their land before we stole it from them; thus, they should be able to do what they want with it[/b]

Hey.. we stole it fair and square!

Yeah I agree with SFHOGWILD and el_vaquero. I'm sure my families history has a little bit of every race, etc...in it. but i'm an American first and damn proud. We should have a special deduction on paychecks for the bleeding hearts. They can pay for all of the handouts and leave us alone.....

We kicked the Native Americans' ass fair and square and took their land. We also beat the mexicans fair and square and took their land. We haven't given any land back to Mexico why should we give it back to the Native Americans. I think we have gave them too much already. Our country gives too many free handouts and the services are abused greatly. I forget who said it earlier but it was a great point, if somehow the natives get their land back we should take our damn with us.
