Found out recently there is a bill (AB 290) introduced in CA that would do away with pig tags and replace them with a validation on your license for $15 and allow for unlimited take of pigs. Hope this happens.

Yes. A step in the right direction. They are invasive and there should be a bounty on them.

Just let me know where you're seeing 'em, and I'll take care of those pests for you. My usual spot has dried up....literally.

I heard of it i think more than a year ago, also they wanted to move pigs to Non Game animal list. It went no where. Make no mistakes, do not expect any good from our government and DFW.
And what chances they are going to willingly loose thousands of dollars in pig tag money?

They probably figure that they'll sell more $15 validations. Plus it's probably cheaper to administer that than tags, so the net revenue won't change.

Nope, unfortunately they did not and will not.
Also, your math does not make sense. If someone wants to kill a pig, he would pay $21 at least for 1 tag instead of $15, who does not want to kill a pig, anyway is not going to pay anything. But on guys who hunt seriously and buy each year between 5 and 20 tags they will loose a lot. They are everything but stupid. They have numbers and can easily calculate how many hunters in total, how many pig tags in total they sell, and what potential revenue if everyone buys a tag.

There is another problem, if they make pigs non game animals, they will be allowed to be hunted at night. I'm sure they will do everything not to let it happen.

Don't let your hopes to high, it was just proposal which will never came to law.

Used to be, you could get a booklet of tags for $5. There's a reason they raised it from $5 for 7 tags to $23 for one tag, and like JustGuy says, they will not willingly or knowingly give up a revenue stream.

The Democratic party is a criminal enterprise, and they have owned and operated CA for the last 30-40 years. You wanna hunt? You gotta come up with the nut and the vig. Period.

Pig hunting in Ca is big and ez money... And unlike other big game they are yr round... There's no way that gets passed... Only way it gets passed if we all stop buying the pig tags and stop using guided hunts... The pig population would explode... The State would probably have to put a bounty on pigs to get ppl to shoot them... But this ain't gonna happen because we are all Suckers

to Uncle, thanks for support, i already started thinking i'm alone here being sober.

to thewolfmen. i do not think that our hunting make significant dent in pigs population. In Texas they kill them much more than we do it here, the regs are much more hunters friendly but they have one big disaster there.
I think the pig population in CA is going to be pretty much the same without hunting, they might spread to public land a little, but do not expect it to be like Texas, besides, our government does not care about it. They care about how they look, buts, if we stop buying tags, they will be happy. No one buying tags, means no one hunting pigs, let's close pig hunting altogether.

We are not Suckers because we hunt pigs, we are Suckers because we do nothing...

The proposal is still in the Water, Parks & Wildlife Committee. Could be two years before we see anything.

Wait till all lead ammo banned , and see how much money they're going to lose on people like me that will no longer buy a California hunting license.
