I just bought a Sony digital SLR camera, and for the most part love the pics I'm getting. I've still got a lot to learn about using it though. One thing that is frustrating is that the file sizes (@3.0+MB) are way too big to post here. If I resize by cropping, I'm left with just a small fragment of the photo. Am I missing something here? Is there a way to resize my photos without losing desired content? Thanks, Frank

Cropping is the wrong way to reduce the size of images. This might seem like an exspensive route to take, but i'll explain it anyway. I reduce the size of my images using Photoshop. I use their "save for web" function which digitally compresses the images which reduces the total file size.

If you are looking for an affordable alternative to Photoshop, consider Photoshop Elements.

A free alternative is Picasa by Google.

Hey Frank congrats on the new camera! The way I do it, and it may be the wrong way...I use Photobucket as a web host and then just use the link from Photobucket to post them here. My files seem to be reduced automaticaly when I upload them to Photobucket. Only crop if you want to get rid of a fragment of the image.

Here's the link to Photobucket, there are several other hosting sites but I use this one. good luck with the new camera, looking forward to see your shots.

Thanks for the advice guys. I've joined photobucket. I'll try moving something here with a new topic.
