I used a 7.9 and a 9.6 volt rechargeable batterie that came from an old R/C that I had. I charged them and put one in the cam and then put my cam in the woods the batterie will only last about 5 days. I used 12 gauge wire with a 12 vdc reed relay. is the wire to big and haveing a big power draw or is the 12 vdc to big and haveing the same effect, maybe the batteries are not as strong as they should be? The red led I use for set up and only come on whem then the sensot is trip so I don't thing that is using all power.

Hi budman,
The wire gauge used - for such short distances and low power circuits - will have no effect on power consumption.  You should use a 6 to 9 volt relay though - the batts might not have enough kick to operate the 12 volt job.

I'd guess that the batts are a bit tired - how old are they??
