Major combat operations in Iraq have ended," declared President George W. Bush aboard the USS Lincoln in 2003. "In the battle of Iraq, the United States and our allies have prevailed." Five years later, the Iraq war rages on.

According to two prominent economists, in a study the White House has not disputed, the cost of the war now outpaces the total price of the 12-year US conflict in Vietnam. It's now nearly double the total cost of the Korean War.

In 1970 my Dad paid $17K for our 3 bedroom house on 1/2 acre.
Gas was maybe .25 a gal.
a candy bar was a nickel.
I think minimum wage was about $1.75 hour

Apples and oranges

I'm not concerned about the cost in dollars.
I'm concerned about the cost in human lives.
Viet Nam cost a lot of lives.
But you weren't around then to understand.

You're a day late and a dollar short with that story Chaum !
Fox News had those figures on the other day and broke down the "facts"...As usual when the liberals try to
mmake a point, they overdo the BS .
Fox showed where the costs "estimated" were filled with bogus computations and wild extrapolations . The
HONEST figures were not near that !

It may well be more costly than the Korean conflict, especially since the dollar is not what it was in 1950.

However, most of us know that while the price of fighting the war against radical Islam is going to continue
to be quite costly....
It would be a great deal MORE costly..if we SHRANK from fighting it !
